Good Friends, Good Food, Bad Hair

Today Savy and I went to visit Krista (my best friend). We've been planning this for a week. She just moved a few weeks ago, so I was anxious to see her new place. I was very excited (since I don't get to see her very often anymore) and got up at 6:30 to get ready and get an early start. Unfortunately, it was raining again this morning, and you know what that means....BAD HAIR DAY!!! Krista didn't mind, though...she was just glad to see me!

After we had the grand tour of the new house and Savy played with Forrest (Krista's chihuahua), we went to Oxford. I miss Oxford so much...it made me so homesick to be there again. Even though I didn't grow up there, it is the place I think of when I think of home. It was the place where I went to college and had my first job. It was where I bought my first house...all on my own I might add! I keep hoping that we might be able to move back there one day. Jon never really liked being there when we were dating, so I usually wound up coming to Memphis on the weekends. They do have a decent movie theatre and a Starbucks now, so he might actually be able to survive there!

Anyway, we ate lunch at Ajax on the square ,one of my old favorites.

There are still toothpicks stuck all over the ceiling.

Here's Krista patiently waiting for her food

See the movie poster for BigBadLove on the wall beside Savy? I have a friend who was actually in that movie!

Savy had the 3 veggies plate with mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, and hash brown casserole

Krista had black eyed peas, cornbread dressing, and fried okra

and I had chicken n dumplings, mac n cheese, and hash brown casserole.

After lunch, we walked around the square and did a little window shopping. We went to an actual candy store with every kind of candy you could imagine.. They had bins and bins of every flavor of jelly bean...no, Jon, they did not have rotten egg or vomit flavor ones (I will never forgive you for that!). They even had every imaginable color of M&Ms. Savy went nuts in there and wanted to try everything! I made a lame joke about her being like a kid in a candy store, but no one laughed (maybe they didn't get it?). She finally settled for some lavender M&Ms and some chocolate covered almonds.

We walked by Proud Larry's, my favorite bar and the place where I first met that wonderful husband of mine who I love so much!

When we left Krista's, we visited Ann. Carolyn was just waking up from her nap when we got there. She and Savy were so cute playing together.

Ann told me some interesting news...those of you who knew him will appreciate the humor in this. Louis has apparently been in touch with Kristen Boyden, and she told him that her brother is considering joining the military. Yep, you heard me right...Jon Whitten Boyden in the armed forces...
I believe the word you're looking for is...

And that's all I've got to say about that.

We stayed long enough to say hi to Lauren when she got home from school, then we headed home.
