Family Photos

We got back from East Tennessee yesterday. I've been busy unpacking and hunting eggs today, but I'll post vacation and Easter pics soon. In the meantime, I'll post some of the pics from our photo session with Jennifer. They turned out GREAT!

Scarlett was more interested in playing with these paper balls than posing for photos.

A New Recipe

I've been working on spring cleaning and yardwork this week. Today I weeded the entire back flower bed - THAT was a job! Now it's Jon's turn to do the mulching. I attempted to do week 7 day 3 of C25K this week, but I failed miserably...I'm sure because I was already very tired from doing yard/housework all day. I need to start getting up early enough to run in the mornings.

I got a very sweet surprise and chocolate covered strawberries.

And two very sweet cards came with them.

This was an early anniversary surprise. Our anniversary is on Sunday, and we have reservations at Texas de Brazil for brunch. The "salad" bar for brunch is just mouth is watering just thinking about it!

I tried a new recipe tonight - Aztec Corn Soup. The original recipe is from The Happy Herbivore.

I used chicken stock instead of milk, and I omitted the maple syrup. I also sauteed and onion and a red pepper, and I added them to the mix before pureeing. I garnished with plain Greek yogurt and a little Dayai cheese. It was good...could be much better with a few changes. Next time I'll definitely add some sea salt. For Jon and Savy I'll add some chicken and cheddar cheese. I'll experiment with the recipe until I get it just right.

The Perks Of Daddy's Job

Jon's office is doing some training this week for some of the local investigators. Savannah got to blow up a tire at the class today - she really got a kick out of pushing the button. Notice how high the tire goes up...and listen to the way she's giggling after the blast!

Scarlett just loved hanging out with Omar.

She gave him lots of hugs.

Savannah got her first black eye last weekend. Jon had just told her to stop jumping on a pile of cushions. She jumped one last time, bounced off the cushions, and landed on her little red table. These were taken Sunday - the swelling is gone now, but her eye is a nice dark shade of purple.

I'm counting down the days now til our trip to East Tennessee...less than 2 weeks to go!
