Mimi came to visit yesterday, and we made a special trip to the toy store for Savannah. She saw this Makin Mud Pies table last week and hasn't stopped talking about it since, so Mimi got it for her yesterday. Savy could not wait to assemble it once we got home.

It's a pretty cool toy. Savy's just using it inside right now, but she can't wait until it's warm enough to take it outside and make some mud pies.

I actually got to take a nap yesterday afternoon. After my nap, I got to go for a run...I can't wait until I can start my early morning runs again.

Drive-By Stickering

Every now and then, I have to leave Savy and Scarlett alone together for a few minutes. Sometimes, when I return, I find Scarlett like this...

...and Savannah is nowhere to be found.

I'm so tired of my wardrobe revolving around the 3 nursing tank tops that I own...2 black and one white. I wear one of those 3 shirts Every .Single. Day...along with one of two pair of sweat pants I bought after Scarlett was born. Today I decided to try on some of my old clothes....you know, the ones I haven't been able to fit into since November 2008 when we found out we were expecting Scarlett. I just wanted to see how far I had to go before I could fit back into everything. Much to my surprise, everything fit..even my smallest pair of jeans that I wore just a week before we found out we were pregnant! I haven't been able to exercise anywhere near as much as I would like because of time and weather, so I guess breastfeeding Scarlett has made the difference. I'm still sick of my three nursing tops, but at least now I know I can wear all my old clothes when she's weaned.

I'll take that pat on the back now.

Don't Send Me Flowers...

I want power tools!

I have to share an awesome blog that I found the other day.

Knock Off Wood

You guys probably know how much I love building things. I haven't been able to do much lately...the only thing I've made since Scarlett was born was a bench seat. But when the weather warms up enough for me to take Scarlett outside, I'm going to start some projects. I can't wait to try some of her plans!

I know it's short notice and most of you won't see this post until after the deadline, but just in case...

Go to this post on Knock Off Wood and leave a comment with something funny, whether you prefer Home Depot or Lowe's, and your email address. Also mention that I referred you to her blog, and both of us could win gift cards to the home improvement store of our choice.

I've got BIG plans! Come on warm weather....

What Season Is It?

So we went from snow last week to sunny and 54 degrees today. Savy wanted to go out and play, so we gave Abby and Zoe a call and headed outside.

Savy rode her scooter next door.

Scarlett loves the Baby Bjorn carrier....LOVES IT!!! I put her in this when I'm desperate for some quiet time. It makes my back ache (she's almost 19 pounds now), but it's a small price to pay.

Savy nearly got run over by the twins in their little mustang...they were driving backkwards.

Savy and Zoe in Savy's jeep.

I think they were about to play chicken, but Zoe ran into a tree.

I'm so glad we got some nice weather today...I just hope it's not cold and snowing again next week when I'm off.

Enough Already!

Here we go again.

I've seen enough snow this winter to last for several years. When I was a kid, we had winters when it didn't even snow at all...now we're getting several serious snowfalls a season. Savy didn't even comment on it this morning...that's how you know you've had enough snow for the year!

Savy has gotten up on her own for 2 days now using my alarm clock. Jon took her into town today, and they picked out her very own alarm clock. It changes colors when you touch it.

Practicing how to turn it off...

I wonder how long it will take before she's tired of it.

Savy keeps saying "I really want the winter to go away"....me too! We are all sick of being cooped up in the house because of the cold weather. We were so bored this week that we went to the indoor play area in the mall. I'm not too fond of going there (GERMS!!!), but I was desperate to let Savy run around somewhere. She enjoyed it...there are always at least a few children there for her to play with.

Savy's becoming a girly-girl...well, sort of. She's still rowdy, of course, but she's starting to care about accessories, shoes, etc. Granny Ruth bought Savy a cute little leather purse in Epcot/Mexico when we were there a couple of years ago. I put it away until Savy was old enough to appreciate it, and she asked if she could have it this week.

Savy is also very anxious to wear these new sandals.

I'm partial to the silver ones, because they are similar to my favorite sandals...we can be twinkies! I'm on the lookout for a pair of red shoes in her size. This girl is obsessed with red shoes and has to try on every pair of red heels we see when we're out shopping. She's definitely a shoe-gal.

Mimi came to visit yesterday. We shopped and had lunch at Jason's Deli.

I'm glad Scarlett is able to sit in a real high chair now. I covered it up with our Floppy Seat and popped her in...she didn't fuss once. Dining out will be much more pleasant now!

Savy actually asked to borrow my alarm clock last night. Jon set it for 9:15 this morning and showed her how to turn it off. I didn't expect her to get up when it alarmed, but she did. She wants her own alarm clock now.

We exchanged cards and gifts this morning. Savannah and Scarlett both got their own cards and $5 from Aunt Lesa. Savy got a bag full of goodies from Mimi yesterday, and she had a balloon and box of chocolates from me and Jon. I'm not sure she likes the surprise inside aspect of the chocolates...Jon came in laughing a while ago and told me Savy had a "Forrest Gump" moment with her candy. She loves all her lollipops.

Relief For Teething Pain

I believe Scarlett is teething...I can't see or feel any teeth yet, but she is drooling all over the place and chewing on everything. We gave Savy frozen blueberry Eggo waffles when she was teething, but she was nearly a year old then. Scarlett isn't used to eating solids yet, so I'm afraid to give her anything she could potentially choke on. She doesn't care too much for teething rings either. I got the idea to give her some frozen blueberries in a baby safe feeder...the things with the mesh feeding bags. She loved it! She ate almost all the blueberries and wasn't fussy for a while after.

I'm going to try frozen banana and frozen peach slices too.

Savy had fun at AWANAS tonight. Tomorrow is her Valentine's party at school...all her little valentines and treats are ready and packed in her backpack. She let Kiki borrow her favorite blanky tonight...here's Kiki all tucked in.

More Snow

We woke up to snow this morning. It was pretty, powdery snow this time...not the icy stuff we got last time. We went next door to play with Abby and Zoe.

Suzie helping Abby down the slide.

Savannah about to launch a snowball.

Savy wanted Jon to help her finish the snowman the twins had started earlier.

Then Zoe tackled the snowman. Savy was heartbroken...see how disappointed she was.

So cute...Zoe giving Savy a hug and telling her she was sorry for knocking him over.

We've been trying everything we can think of to get Scarlett to take a bottle or eat baby food with no success. Tonight we tried apple juice in a sippy cup with a soft spout...she was definitely interested. I just hope she keeps it up!

You've Got To Try This!

I was in the mood to cook tonight, so I tried a couple of new recipes from the Pioneer Woman. I've never found a recipe on her site that I didn't like. I've been wanting to make enchiladas, but Scarlett gets a tummy ache when I eat the red or green sauce in most enchilada dishes. I found an enchilada recipe that doesn't use either, and it is AWESOME! I reduced the chilis and left out the jalapeno (for Scarlett's sake), and I tweaked it a bit to make it lower in fat.

White Chicken Enchiladas

Then came the dessert, also courtesy of Pioneer Woman.

Molten Chocolate Lava Cake

Look at this....home-made whipped cream! That's a first for me.

Unfortunately, the dessert was NOT low in fat. It was very good, but not overly sweet...next time, I think I'll substitute vanilla ice cream for the whipped cream.

This meal got a 4-star rating from Jon...he knocked off a star because it wasn't very spicy. I'm definitely adding this to the rotation! I think I deserve some special treatment for a 4-star meal...hint, hint.

Only one more day until my week off. It's been a long week. I wish my 7 days on flew by as fast as my 7 days off.

Picture Time

Scarlett loves taking a bath, so I took advantage of her good mood and snapped some pics during bathtime tonight.

Just look at this hair! She has such sweet curls when her hair is still damp.

We tried to get some good shots of the girls together...Savy was being less than cooperative, as usual.

Savy's saying, "Ewww, Scarlett drooled on me!"

Savy looking stoned...

Scarlett looking stoned...

Not doing too good with the photography here....

Here's Savy in the middle of saying, "No, no, no...that's enough pictures."

Then, Jon told her she could have a lollipop if she smiled pretty for the camera.

This kid will do anything for candy.
