Nanny and Lee Otis came to spend the night with us Monday night while Jon was in St Louis. You can see from the pics who got all the attention!

This was only the second time they've seen Scarlett, and they couldn't get over how much she's grown. Granny Ruth won't recognize her when we get to visit her next month...she hasn't seen her since right after she was born.

I realized last night it's been a while since I put any new recipes on the blog. Last night I made chicken enchilada pasta. I found the recipe on My Kitchen Cafe. Click on the link to see the recipe. It was pretty good...definitely different than my normal pasta dishes. Jon really liked it. Here's my finished product.

I'm having sort of a crappy day today. I dropped Savy off at pre-school this morning and went to get a haircut (Scarlett was with me, of course). I've been really needing a trim because I haven't been to the salon since before Scarlett was born. Some of you guys know I've been letting my hair grow out, and it was getting pretty long. I just wanted a trim and some long bangs. So I went to the local salon...I've been there several times before. I'm not too particular about who cuts my hair because I usually don't ask for anything that complicated. I agreed to let someone new do my cut - my FIRST MISTAKE. I told her I was letting my hair grow out, I want to keep the length and the long layers that I already have. I said just trim the ends and I want to have some long, side-swept bangs.
It's hard to see what's going on behind your own head...plus, Scarlett was in the floor in her carrier, so I wasn't really paying close attention to how much she was cutting. I mean, how could anyone misunderstand "I'm growing it out...just trim the ends" - SECOND MISTAKE.
When I finally realized she was in fact doing more than just "trimming the ends", I didn't say anything because you can't very well put hair back on, and you can't very well just stop cutting and leave it as is - THIRD MISTAKE. I was pretty miffed over the length and just wanted to high-tail it out of there and cool off before I said something mean to the girl...I mean, it's just hair, right? So I put it up in a quick ponytail and headed home.
It's been a long time since I cried after a haircut, but that's exactly what happened today. I came home thinking it would be ok once I washed it and styled it like I usually do...Wrong! Not only is it SIGNIFICANTLY shorter than when I went in, but it was uneven...a good 2 inches longer (at least) on the right side. The longer I looked at it, the madder I got. So I called the owner of the salon and told them I was not at all happy with the cut I received. She had me come back in, and I explained how it was so much shorter than I asked for (I mean, did the gal not hear me say I was growing it out?) and how it was uneven. The owner was very nice, and luckily she was able to fix the cut without sacrificing any more length.
Now, at least the cut looks nice, although it's still a whole lot shorter than I wanted...but she couldn't really do anything about that. I still feel like crying...Rose's wedding is coming up in two weeks, and now I won't be able to do what I planned with my hair because it's too short. I might post a pic later so you guys can see it. I'll still go to that salon when I need a cut, but I sure won't let that particular person cut my hair again.

Speaking of Rose's wedding, I had to go LBD shopping yesterday because I can't quite fit into my LBD yet....it's a shame, because I love, love, love that dress. Anyway, I bought 2 dresses yesterday and am waiting for a 3rd dress that I ordered last week. When it gets here, I'll probably post pics to get opinions on which looks best and return the others.

That broke my heart about your hair. I loved your long beautiful hair. Lee Ottis and me look really old on the pictures. But then, we are really old! Savy and Scarlett look beautiful. I sure loved holding Scarlett a lot. And that Savy is such a special little girl!! They are both so beautiful!! You and Jon are really blessed.
