Scarlett's Birthday and Other Stuff

On July 31st, my baby girl turned 4! Since we had just spent a week at Rosemary Beach, we just had a small party here at home.

Scarlett picked out the rainbow cake.

I don't know what she wished for, but I sure hope it came true!

All the little guests liked the chickens.

July 31st is also Malice's birthday...she's one year old now! Jon made her a special doggy birthday cake with peanut butter frosting.

And we've already started another school year...the summer flew by so fast! Savannah is now in second grade, and she picked a fabulous outfit for her first day.

Can't start a new school year without fab new shoes....

Scarlett's first day of school outfit

We went to LeBohneur last month for Scarlett's surgery. Here's our little patient in her hospital gown.

She was such a good sport, but she started getting cranky after several hours of waiting. Actually, we were all getting pretty cranky. We'd waited all day. Finally, someone from the surgical team came out and told us she'd be going back in just a few minutes. Not too long after that, they came back and told us we'd have to reschedule.

Needless to say, we weren't happy. But we didn't have much choice in the matter, so we left. Scarlett is going back to have her surgery on Wednesday. So everyone say a prayer for our little sweetheart.

I'll end with this pic of Savannah the artist. Mimi and Pappi gave her an easel and paints, and she had a ball painting Saturday afternoon.

EGG-CITING NEWS!

We went to Rosemary beach last month. We had such a great time...I love that place! This time Mimi and Pappi went with us. We stayed at the Wave Loft this time. The Wave Loft isn't as big as the last condo we rented, but it was perfect for the six of us. It also wasn't too far from the Sugar Shack...Mimi and Pappi made many trips there with the girls.

Photo of us pulling into Rosemary...that's the condo up ahead on the top floor.

We made it just in time to visit the beach before dark.

Our bedroom. This was the most comfortable bed...like sleeping on a cloud! We didn't get a pic of Mimi and Pappi's room, but it was a king bed just like ours.

The girls bunk room

There was also a full kitchen and two full baths.

Here we all are walking to the beach on our first day. Savannah was a little disgruntled that she had to carry her own body board.

Our set-up on the beach.

When we first got to the beach on that first day, Scarlett ran to the water and immediately got knocked down by a big wave. After that, if she wanted to go into the water, she insisted someone carry her.

Mimi brought lots of sand toys...including a bucket big enough for Scarlett to sit in.

We took a 3 hour tour on the Ashley Gorman. It took us to Shell Island.

Jon, Scarlett and I walked waaaaay down the beach and found a seashell graveyard....we saw hundreds of huge shells. All were broken, unfortunately, but it was still pretty cool. Scarlett had a run-in with this little guy.

That's him right there in the center...the crab. She was happily telling me she'd found a crab until he took a step toward her....then she ran screaming.

We ate breakfast at Cowgirl Kitchen before the trip home. I hated to leave.

Yesterday was Scarlett's birthday. I can't believe she is 4 years old already! She requested lunch at Jason's Deli. Her gift was a ballerina dance-with-me doll that's as tall as she is. We'll have Scarlett's real party on Sunday.

And now for the egg-citing news....sorry, I can't stop saying it like that, haha. OUR FIRST EGGS!

Totally unexpected! We weren't expecting them to start laying until Septemberish. So we didn't have their nesting boxes ready yet. The girls were super eggcited! Savannah has already requested I cook these eggs for breakfast in the morning.

All that hard work deserved a treat. The chicks got their first taste of Watermelon.

It Finally Happened!

Savannah has some exciting news! But first, I need to post these pics....I've been meaning to for a month now, and I know some people who are dying to see them. Our wonderfully talented photographer friend, Jennifer Tibbetts, visited this spring and took some awesome photos! I'm not patient enough to wait for ALL of them to upload, though, so I'm going to just post my absolute favorite ones.

Ok, now for the big news. Savannah lost her first tooth!

Actually, TWO teeth. She has waited and waited and WAITED to lose a tooth. We checked fairly often, but never found any loose teeth. I noticed one night that her two bottom adult teeth were just starting to come in behind her baby teeth. Since they were coming in behind and not from below, the baby teeth weren't loose at all. So she had to go to the dentist and have them pulled. She was so brave and didn't cry at all.

Since Savannah waited SO LONG (she's 7 1/2!) AND had to have them pulled, the Tooth Fairy gave her something extra special for losing her first two teeth.

Here's a shot of the new and improved fairy door. Scarlett broke the door off the old one, so Tooth Fairy got a new door in a new location that's out of Scarlett's reach.

I snapped this pic of the girls playing the other day. We're going to Rosemary Beach again this summer (YAY!). The girls can't wait to go, so they were playing "beach." The tan blanket is the sand, and the pink is the water (we don't have a blue one). Savannah is rubbing sunblock on Scarlett...always the concerned big sister.

Notice Ariel is sunbathing topless...it must be a European beach....
