Sorry... no pics today. Savy went to work with Jon and I went to the office so we could set off 10 Raid bombs in the house. This was the last resort to get rid of the fleas that took over our house while we were gone. We initially tried sprinkling 20-mule team borax liberally on all the carpets, then using a rake to disperse it. This helped a little, but it certainly did not get rid of them.
As for the apple cider vinegar experiment, I quit after only three days because:
a. It tasted REALLY bad and I couldn't make myself drink it anymore
b. The dogs wouldn't eat it unless I made made a puree of acv and vienna sausages (and that's really gross)
c. I think it was giving Vita diarrhea
When we got home, I was desperate for something to keep the fleas off my feet and ankles. I rubbed apple cider vinegar on my legs...turns out it is an excellent flea repellent when used in this way. So, I don't suggest drinking it, but rubbing it on your skin works (if you can handle the smell). Make sure to use the raw variety (like Braggs) from a whole foods or health food store; the distilled stuff from the local market won't work.
Anyway, Savy enjoyed going to work with her daddy today. She drew a picture for Mr. Alvin, and he paid her $5 for it! She was so proud of that 5 dollar bill...she showed it to me twice after she got home. It's going in her piggy bank with the $10 she had left from Pappy's vacation money.

I Can't Take My Eyes Off Her For One Minute Without....
When you walk into the kitchen and see the barstool pushed up against the counter, you don't know exactly what you'll find....
you just know that, whatever it is, it'll be terrible....
I shouldn't have left the Skin-so-Soft on the kitchen counter. It's bright blue and it stains. Her hands are still very blue even after three washings.
Now she looks like she murdered a smurf.

Vacation Part II : Smoky Mountains
Mom, Savy, and I headed to the the Smoky Mountains first thing Tuesday morning. Nanny and Lee Ottis got there on Monday. Savy was really good for the ride....especially considering that we couldn't get the DVD player to work. We checked into the motel Tuesday afternoon and went straight to the Old Mill to buy duck food.
Savy loved feeding the ducks and constantly asked to go out to "feed the duckies." It wasn't long before she was hand-feeding them.

I really wish I had taken my camera when we went to the river Thursday afternoon. Savy had been trying to pet the ducks since we arrived but they were just a little too quick for her. She must've planned this the night before. She dumped her whole bag of food out right at her feet. While the ducks were distracted by the big pile of food, she reached down and grabbed one. She didn't hurt him, but she did give him a big hug and would not put him down. Mom literally had to pry him out of her arms...we laughed so hard we cried. I don't have a pic, but here's kind of what he looked like when she finally let go.
Savy loved Dollywood! The weather was great...overcast but not raining, so it wasn't too hot. It wasn't crowded at all, and we didn't have to wait in line for anything. There were actually a few times when she was the only person on a ride.
Our first ride was the antique cars, and Savy got to drive!

There was even a kiddie roller coaster. We're in the orange car...you can just barely see the top of her head
And we rode the train...a real steam engine
I wasn't able to ride the smaller kiddie rides with her....I tried to fit in those little seats, but I just couldn't quite wedge myself in. She did very well by herself, though, and didn't try to stand up while she was moving.
On the way out, Mom bought Savy a pink t-shirt with horses and a mug with her name on it. When we got back to our room, she immediately had to put on the shirt and have her kool-aid in the mug.
We also did a lot of shopping. Mimi bought Savy a lot of new clothes. Savy bought a kitty cat (stuffed) at The Disney Store with some of the money her Pappy gave her. The motel had an indoor heated pool and a hot tub, so we went swimming a few times. Lee Ottis even went swimming with us one afternoon. Savy wanted Nanny to get in the pool, but she sat on a lounge chair and just watched us swim.
We had a great time! We left for home Saturday morning, and Savy was very glad to see her daddy again....she really missed him while we were gone. I'm glad to be back into my routine; I actually missed my morning runs.

Vacation Part I : New Orleans
We had a great time in New Orleans! It was so nice to be alone with Jon for a few days. We rode the train from Memphis to New Orleans...thank you, David, for getting up so early on a Saturday to take us to the train station! I enjoyed the train ride and would definitely do it again. We had a private "roomette", so we got to lie down and sleep after breakfast....I guess that made up for having to wake up at 4 am Saturday morning. The only thing I didn't like was trying to walk on a moving train...Jon described it perfectly when he said he felt like a pinball on the way to lunch.
We got there around 3 Saturday afternoon. We stayed at the Sheraton...we had a great view of the river from our room

We went to the French Market after we checked in, and we had dinner at Pere Antoine's. We walked down Bourbon Street our first night there. Jon hates Bourbon Street, so we only visited it that first night. I wasn't in a drinking mood, so I wasn't disappointed.
Sunday it rained all day long. We ate lunch at Bubba Gump's, and we kicked a$$ on the movie trivia. We were determined not to let the rain spoil our fun, so we bought ponchos before we left the restaurant.
It finally stopped raining Sunday night, so we decided to walk to Emeril's for dinner. It was soooo good....we were absolutely stuffed. It started raining again when we left, and we got soaked on the walk back to the hotel.
Monday, we had brunch at Cafe Orleans. Jon took me to the train station Monday afternoon...I hated to leave so soon. The ride back was a little boring without Jon. I had a roomette on the way back, too, so at least I got to nap on the way.
Mom, Jimmy, and Savy picked me up in Greenwood. I was so happy to see Savy...I missed her terribly.
