Savannah has been taking an interest in jewelry lately. Last week she insisted on wearing her "pearls" to AWANA. Tonight for AWANA, she had to wear a necklace, two bracelets, and this huge "diamond" ring...I don't even remember where she got this.
A few people have asked about my new eating habits lately. I'll try to start posting more recipes that I've tried and liked for those of you who are looking for meal ideas. This was tonight's dinner.
Grilled "cheese" and turkey with tomato panini and sauteed asparagus.
As I said before, I haven't gone vegan yet...I still eat chicken and turkey every now and then. However, I do my best to make certain the meat I do eat is free of hormones, antibiotics, harmful preservatives, etc. The bread is REAL whole grain bread...not the kind that says it's whole grain but really isn't. The "cheese" is Dayia...LOVE that stuff! I put some Earth Balance spread on the bread and sprinkled with a little garlic salt, then grilled the sandwiches on the George Foreman (just as good as a panini press).
Fresh asparagus sauteed lightly in olive oil, minced garlic, and lemon juice and sprinkled with Kosher salt (could also use sea salt). This is so good!
Jon taught Savannah to tie her shoes tonight.
She is so proud of herself!
She still has a little trouble tying them while they're actually on her feet, so she's got to practice that. We promised her a special surprise when she's proficient at it. The surprise? I'm going to build her a platform stage and cover it with laminate wood flooring. Along with that, she'll get a karaoke player, microphones with stands, and some sort of spotlight/dance lights. I got the idea from Lisa...Savy had such a great time at Maeson's "rock star" party.

Not Again
I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day! This was an early present....
Our old kitchen faucet was causing the pipes under the sink to move (and leak) when we turned it, so Jon installed this nice new one for me last week.
Yesterday I received these roses from my valentine
Along with this sweet card
And today, I was surprised by a box of chocolate covered strawberries, along with this sweet note
My husband is soooo wonderful!
Now for a photo of Scarlett. Notice anything different about her?
She now has bangs. Yes, Savannah got into the kitchen drawer where we keep the shears - which has a child lock on it, by the way - sneaked into her bedroom, and cut her sister's hair. Just in time for family pictures next month. I guess I should be glad it's not worse...and that she didn't accidentally cut Scarlett! She's just so sneaky! We even TALKED to her about what would happen if she ever cut her hair (again) or her sister's hair. I just don't know what to do with her.

Stir Crazy
I'm sick to death of snow - I want warm weather! We've been so tired of being cooped up in the house for a week. Today was my first day off, and what happened? It snowed, of course. Luckily the streets were clear...I needed a change of scenery.
I haven't posted for a while because there really hasn't been much to talk about. Mimi took both girls to her house last weekend, so Jon and I had some alone time. We worked out together at the gym and then went to the range to shoot. When the girls got home, Savannah found my ear protection and decided this was just PERFECT to keep out all the noise around here (aka Scarlett fussing). It was getting quite annoying with Savy speaking reeaally loud and then saying "WHAT?" everytime we said something to her. I had to hide them when she went to bed.
Savannah has been helping keep Scarlett entertained. Here they are playing "Elefun".
We had a visitor the other night. Jon walked out the back door and came face to face with this beast.
It was a very pretty and very friendly dog, but it was HUGE! It hung around a little while...Jon offered it some food and water, but it just wanted company. This pic of Vita on the other side of the door should give you some idea of how large this dog was. Vita is 110 pounds (probably a little more than that right now), and this dog made Vita look small.
Scarlett experienced her first Moon Pie last week...she loved it.
Here's a sweet photo of Savy and Scarlett. They were lying on the floor watching TV, and Scarlett fell asleep. Savy covered her up with her favorite blankie...she's such a good big sis.
Scarlett showing off her pigtails.
I'm getting back into my routine of working out. I went to the gym Saturday night, and I went for a run yesterday. Now I'm wishing I'd gone to the gym tonight, too, but I just didn't feel like driving back into town. I did pilates instead - that'll do, I guess. I'm so anxious to get back to where I was before all this crap happened. For the last three days I've had lots of energy, so I'm hoping that will continue. I'm still having pretty bad reactions at my injection sites - I have either bruises or large red welts on every single site now. That's supposed to get better with time, though. I have a follow up with my neurologist next month, so we'll see what he thinks. If that's the only side effect I have from the meds, I can't really complain.
