Round Two

We have some extremely tough fleas around here. Last night we fumigated the house....this time we used the Raid fumigators instead of the foggers. I'd say the fumigators took care of our problem (finally). We had three hours to kill, so we ate at El Nopal, then went to Wal-Mart to kill some time. El Nopal had a mariachi band playing, and Savy danced a little bit on the way in.

Today was pretty uneventful. We ran errands and went shopping this morning. Savy took a short nap when we got home. I saw about 6 bluebirds in and around my birdbath while she slept. I scared most of them off when I went to the window to take this picture.

When Savy woke up, she wanted to go outside and drive her car.

Then she played in the grass,

and drew with her sidewalk chalk.

This was the way she looked when she saw Jon's car coming toward the house...right before she started jumping up and down and waving. She's always so happy when Daddy gets home from work.

Laundry Tips : How To Keep Your Whites White

More product reviews! I've been doing a lot of these lately...and, yes, I'm being lazy because it's a work day, and I don't really have anything else to write about.

Is anyone wondering how to keep your white shirts and socks looking bright white? Bleach and oxi-clean get rid of stains, but my white clothing still looked gray (or sometimes yellow). I started putting a few drops of Mrs. Stewart's Bluing in the wash with my whites, and they look brand new now.

I use this in every load of white laundry. Make sure to follow the directions; if you put too much in, it can turn clothes blue. I add a few drops to the washer tub while it is fillling, let it fill completely with water, then add my clothing.

Here's another laundry gadget I recently started using.

Dryer balls really do cut down on drying time. They are also a great alternative to fabric softener...I stopped using fabric softener because of the chemicals and their long term effect on fabric. These are also helpful for items that are hang-dried. I hang-dry my jeans to preserve the shape and prevent "growing," but this leaves them stiff. Once they are dry, I throw them in the dryer for about 5 minutes on the no heat setting with a couple of dryer balls...then they are soft and comfy.

Fast Fixin Popcorn Chicken

Two weeks ago, I couldn't get Savy to eat anything. For two months, she'd turned her nose up at everything I gave her...even her old favorites like PB&J, chicken nuggets, and french fries. I know that toddlers go through these kinds of phases, but I was still frustrated that she wouldn't eat.
When Mom kept her last month (for our New Orleans trip), she told me that Savy loved the chicken she fed her....Fast Fixin Popcorn Chicken. She said it's easy to make (just microwave for one minute), and that Savy always ate every last bite of it.
When we got home from vacation, I picked some up at Wal-Mart supercenter. I only got one bag....Savy has this annoying habit of really liking something when she's at someone else's house, then refusing to eat it after I've gone and bought 4 bags of the stuff.

She can't get enough of them! Every time I fix these for her, she eats every bite, then asks for seconds. She quickly finished the one bag I bought...Jon called me last night in a panic because we were out of chicken and she was demanding it. So, here's the real test. On the way home last night, I stopped and purchased four bags....
She still loves it today!

If you have a picky eater, this is a winner!

A Slow Day

Today went by so slowly. Savy was bored, and it's my week to work. She finally started playing with her dolls...here she is telling me to "shhh" because the babies are taking a nap.

Tonight, I worked at rehab for a few hours (it's been awhile since I've been there), and Jon kept Savy. Savy found some of her old baby clothes that I intended to put away. According to Jon, she insisted on wearing them, and he couldn't change her mind. This outfit is size 3 months....she's almost 3 years now.

Note how the pants don't cover even half her booty now, and her tummy is hanging out. She looks like a teeny Britney Spears.
