Sprinkler Park

Savannah has been asking to go to the sprinkler park all summer. So when Robin asked if we wanted to meet her and all her kiddos there last week, it was a perfect excuse to go. Savy was so excited and couldn't wait to leave, so we got there a little earlier than everyone else.

Scarlett liked it a lot better this year.

Holding hands....don't see that too often anymore.

This was so sweet...I caught Savy being a protective big sister with her arm around Scarlett's shoulders.

Lunch break

The three amigos...Scarlett, Savannah, and Macie walking hand in hand.

Hope we get a chance to go back before school starts!

New Pool

Our friend, Robin, has a rather large inflatable pool that Savannah and Scarlett love to swim in whenever they go to her house. So when Jon found one on sale at Toys R Us, he picked one up for us. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but we had NO idea what we were getting into. I won't go into details (don't want to relive the nightmare!), but I can say I don't think I've ever hated an inanimate object as much as I hated this pool while we were trying to set it up.

I think the box said something like "ready to swim in 3 hours." This sucker took us 3 weeks to set up! In our defense, we did have to go out of town a couple of times during that period, but still....3 weeks! We ran into numerous problems, the worst of which was figuring out how to get an almost perfectly level spot to put it.

Now that the set-up is complete, the girls are really enjoying their new pool. It's just big enough for Savy to actually practice swimming in.

Independence Day Fun

Facebook makes it far too easy to neglect my blog. For those who don't Facebook, I'll play catch-up and try to do better....I promise!

We took a trip to New Orleans a few weeks ago with some friends. We rode the train down on a Friday, then came home the following Monday. We had a great time. I didn't take too many photos this time. Here's what I got.

Lovely view of the city from the ferry.

Very cool shadow cast on the cathedral.

Bourbon Street. Pitiful, yes, I know. I don't even remember what I was trying to photograph....or maybe this was just an accident.

Anyway, it was a great trip! We rented a condo with a rooftop terrace (and LOTS of stairs!) just a half block from Bourbon Street.

Back at home, I caught Savannah and Scarlett actually getting along...a rare thing these days. They're looking at Savannah's Puzzle Buzz books.

Last week we visited Granny Ruth and Lesa. On the way, we stopped to check out Outlaw Sporting Goods in Greenwood, MS. Savannah got an archery lesson from her cousin Chris Reed, our family celebrity.

Scarlett got a lesson too.

We had lots of fun on July 4th. It was Granny Ruth's birthday, so we took her for lunch at Garfields.

Later on, we had lots of fun on Neil and Lesa's boat....the girls loved it.

Both girls got to drive the boat.

And jump off the lakehouse deck into the water.....over and over again.

There was a huge water slide next door.

Poor little Scarlett couldn't climb up to the top of the slide by herself. She entertained herself on the trampoline.

Her cousin, Chase, came to the rescue and carried her up on his back. I honestly don't know how he made it with her hanging onto him like that.

We bought Savannah a fishing pole while we were at Outlaw's. She talked Jon into taking her fishing today, and she caught two fish! These were her first ever, and she is hooked....no pun intended.

Mimi and Pappi, get ready to take this girl fishing next time she visits!
