It's been busy as always around here, so I'm playing catch-up with the posting again. In late September, Jon and I took a weekend trip to Biloxi while Mimi and Pappi kept the girls. Jon's brother, Troy, got us a free room at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino.

Here are some pics of our room.

It was overcast and rainy all weekend, but it did clear up just long enough for me and Jon to walk barefoot on the beach.
Even though it rained all weekend, there was plenty to keep us entertained at the hotel. We had a great time visiting with Troy and Shannon.
We picked up a new family member while we were there. This is Malice. Savannah and Scarlett absolutely love her.

Last weekend we went to Cypress Creek Park with some friends for an outdoor movie. Here are the girls with their buddy, Macie, all bundled up and ready to watch Monster House.
When the movie was over, it was time to carve pumpkins. Savannah's job was cleaning out the pumpkin guts.

Sunday, we went to Kaitlyn's birthday party. Savannah had never skated before, but she was determined to learn. It didn't take her long to catch on.
Here's a video of Savannah in the kids' race.
I skated too. It had been probably been 25 years or more since I last skated, but it's like riding a bike....well, almost. I only fell once, then it was smooth sailing the rest of the time.
I even talked Robin into skating!
Mary and I participated in the race. I was more concerned with staying on my feet that speed. I may have come in last, but at least I didn't fall! Everyone got a free snack bar coupon for participating.
Robin took a video of the race. Unfortunately, they turned the lights off for the adults, so you really can't see what's going on. But if you watch after the race, there's proof that I can STILL roller skate without falling! And if you watch even longer, you'll see Robin had no idea how to turn off the camera....
Halloween...Savannah's favorite holiday. She decided to be a werewolf this year. Quite ferocious looking isn't she? Scarlett wanted to be a mermaid, but she didn't want just any old mermaid costume. She wanted one with a real tail. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a kids' mermaid costume with a real tail? All we could find was the Disney Ariel costume that is a dress with no tail. We looked ALL OVER TOWN for one that Scarlett approved of. We finally found the perfect one at Costco of all places. She loved it!
The "gang"
I only got a couple of photos of trick-or-treating before it got too dark. The girls had a great time.

First Soccer Game For Fall
Savannah's team had their first fall soccer game yesterday, and they won 5-2. Savy played goalie first.

Scarlett brought her binoculars...she wanted to make sure she had a good view of big sis.
Scarlett's new friend
I finished another project this weekend. Just after Scarlett was born, I turned the hallway between the girls' bedrooms into a mini-library. Here's an old pic of how it looked.
Not too long ago, Scarlett started taking the books off the shelves. When she tore several pages out of Savannah's favorite book, I gave up and just took them down.
I didn't want to leave the wall bare, though, so I built something else there instead. Now the girls have a place to hang all the stuff that usually gets dropped by the back door.

Now it's time to get started building the girls' Christmas present.

Scarlett's Birthday And Other Stuff
I have a ton of pics to post...just can't seem to keep on top of the blog. I'll start with these cute photos of Savannah helping Scarlett learn to ride a bike. Scarlett can't wait until she can ride a bike just like her big sis.
Savy had to give her a little push going uphill.
On Scarlett's actual birthday (back on July 31st), I took the girls to the Memphis Botanic Garden. The last time we went there, Scarlett was too young to play...she was still confined to the stroller. This time both girls had a ball.
At the entrance to My Big Backyard
This was new...a CandyLand themed garden
This playhouse was new too.
All the older playhouses are still just as fun.
This chicken coop was new, complete with a toy chicken inside.

...into baby birds.
This was the first time I've ever gone into the huge birdhouse. They had this display of bird eggs...very cool.
Wading in the creek and waiting for a thunderstorm to start
Our last stop was the Japanese garden to feed the swan and koi.
Daddy met us at Red Robin for a birthday lunch. Here's Scarlett getting the last bit of her complimentary birthday sundae.
A birthday present from Savannah
We had Scarlett's party the following Saturday.
Mimi & Pappi and Jon and I went in together to get her a big girl 4-wheeler.
Savannah started first grade last month! She picked this dress for her 1st day of school outfit.
I've made a few changes to Scarlett's room.
We got her name painted when we were in New Orleans, and Mimi had it framed and matted for her.
I painted her old nightstand silver.
I keep her favorite purple dress hanging here where she can reach it so she can try it on any time she wants. Otherwise, we're having to constantly get it out of the closet for her.
That's all folks...at least for now!
