The days are ticking away! My pregnancy calendar says 39 days until our due date, but it's actually only 32 days until the big day...my c-section is scheduled a week before the actual due date.
Today was the first day of my week off, and I spent most of it cleaning and doing laundry. It seems as soon as I'm finished, it's time to start all over again. That's the plan for the whole week...cleaning, laundry, swim school. I think I'm done with the cooking/freezing. I made a few casseroles and soups and breads, and with Nanny's contributions to the stockpile, we should have plenty to eat after the baby comes. I'm hoping I can get some time to relax at some point this week!
I did take one pic of Savy today. Here's another thing she inherited from Jon....she loves video games. She was really getting into this one.
Jon and I have still not agreed on a name. I've picked my favorite, and if he hasn't come up with something before the big day, I guess that's what it'll be. I'm keeping it a secret until she's here.

Hanging In There
Geez, this has been a busy week. I have so many more patients now than I used to...my patient load has almost doubled from what it was a year ago. I've got to go to the office week after next to train the person who will cover for me while I'm on maternity leave, so I've been trying to type up "cheat sheets" to make it easier. I also have to get Savy to swim class every afternoon, and we're still getting baby stuff ready. Time certainly flies these days!
I had a checkup on Wednesday. My doc said everything looks great, and I've only gained a total of 23 pounds for the entire pregnancy so far....I think I'm going to make my goal of staying below 30 lbs total. I'm still walking 2 miles a day (when I can drag myself out of bed early enough to do it before it's too hot), and I even jogged (just for a short distance) a couple of times. I've made it to the gym 2 or 3 times in the last couple of weeks with no contractions...things are going pretty good!
The new swing I ordered arrived yesterday, so we put it together last night.
Savy put her Taz doll in the swing to test it out. She wants very much to get in there herself...we had to lock it up in the bedroom so she can't break it.

Belly Shots
Not too much happened yesterday. We stayed inside most of the day because it was soooo hot. We only went out to hang out a load of laundry...have I mentioned that I love my new clothesline? I love the smell of laundry dried outside in the fresh air...our closet smells like that now.
Savy had swim class again yesterday afternoon and did very well. I took some belly shots before we left. This is the tank top I bought the other day at Old Navy...the only one in town I found that would cover my belly.
I know, this outfit is not exactly flattering on a 8 1/2 month pregnant body, but it's the most comfortable and coolest outfit I have right now. And in 97 degree weather (heat index of 112), I really don't care too much what I look like.

Pool School: Level 3
Savy started level 3 in swim class today. The higher levels get to stand on the little floating platforms instead of sitting on the steps, so she was very excited. I was worried she wouldn't stay on the platform, but she didn't even try to jump off. She even swam a couple of feet on her own this time.

Happy Father's Day
Savy couldn't wait to give Jon the father's day card she picked out. He felt like going out for breakfast this morninig, so Savy played outside while he got ready. Here are some pics of her with her new umbrella taken while we waited.
She wanted her picture taken with the tomato we're growing. We're down to 1 now...she sneaked and picked the other one a few days ago. I don't know if we'll ever have a tomato ripen on that plant.
She's very nosy...spying on the neighbors.
She is such a daddy's girl...she wanted to sit by him today and share his drink.
I found her all curled up, asleep in her swing this afternoon. She's claimed this as her chair...she's going to be so disappointed when she breaks it.

Where Does All The Time Go?
Lately I feel like there aren't enough hours in my day. Getting things ready for the baby is time consuming. The nesting instinct has kicked in again too, so I've been cleaning and organizing like crazy.
Savy completed levels 1 and 2 of swim school. She starts level 3 on Monday, so that's another 2 weeks of lessons. She can't get enough of the pool, and she's upset that the has to wait until Monday to swim again.
I spent the whole morning cleaning, then Savy and I took a break this afternoon. We went to S&P for lunch then headed to town on a mission....to find a shirt that covers my belly! OK, let me be more specific....find a flattering, sleeveless, cool shirt that covers my belly. It has been in the upper 90's for most of the week, and I have been miserable. I only have 2 shirts that cover the bump now, and one of them has sleeves...and it's just too hot for sleeves (even if they are short sleeves). So we go to Motherhood Maternity (what better place to find one, right?) and I start trying on shirts....what are these designers thinking? I wanted a tank top with those thin spaghetti straps and a shelf bra...that's about the coolest type of top I can think. Every one I tried hit me just below the belly-button and left quite a bit of belly exposed. The extra large size was the only thing that covered my belly (and it just barely covered it), but the bust area was HUGE. Same thing at the other maternity places. I'm still pretty much the same size as I was pre-pregnancy, just my belly is much bigger. Wouldn't you think that maternity shirts should be made for this body type? I finally found just what I was looking for at Old Navy (the Collierville store has a maternity section).
When we got home, I set up my new clothesline. I've wanted a clothesline since we moved here, but I doubt our neighbors would like that. I found this collapsible one on amazon...it functions like an umbrella, is really easy to put up/take down, and I just set it in our umbrella stand when I want to use it. How perfect is that?
What did Jon think of it? He said "I think we're officially rednecks now."
I also cleaned Savy's playroom today and took out all the toys she's outgrown. I finally got around to hanging up the sun-catcher she made in Bible school.
We tested Savy's old baby swings this afternoon. I think Savy wore them both out...they just barely swing now. I ordered a new swing tonight, and Savy claimed this old one as her "TV watching chair".
I can't believe it's Friday already...where did my week go?

Pool School x 2
Savy had an extra swim class this morning to make up for missing Thursday. We got up early to make the class, then spent the whole day in town so we wouldn't have to drive back for the afternoon class. It was miserably hot today...or maybe it was just me.
After class #1 we had lots of time to kill. Savy got to look at the toys for a long time in TJ Max....she knows which stores have toys now and starts asking to go look at toys as soon as we walk in. It was pretty hard to talk her out of this skateboard today.
That dress is another Boden freebie....well, almost free. I used the rest of my credit, so this one was 90 cents. It's a little big, so she'll be able to wear it for at least 2 summers.
We hit the food court in target for an icee (for Savy) and a bottle of water (for me).
Jon says I have a Target addiction. I've only been 3 or 4 times in the past week.
It was finally time for swim class #2. Savy is now VERY comfortable in the water (as if she wasn't before). She loves being under water now, as you can plainly see from the pics of today's lesson. Note how her classmates are all sitting on the steps while she's going under.
She's getting bored with their usual exercises and is ready to plow on ahead. Her instructor had to laugh at her today...every time she turned around, Savy was under the water.

Catching Up
What a week! It's been so busy...and I've got to work tomorrow to make up for taking off Thursday. This post is going to be just random stuff.
We finally found goggles that Savy likes and actually stay on. She didn't want to take them off at swim class.
We had a terrible storm Friday...luckily we didn't lose our power. This morning we woke to another storm. This time the entrance to our neighborhood flooded, and some of the homes at the entrance actually flooded. We did lose power today for a couple of hours.
Yesterday we brought baby stuff down from the attic...time to start getting things ready! I only managed to get the cradle together, though.
I've still got to assemble the crib and play yard. And the amby bed, of course!
Savy was so excited over the baby toys. She was constantly trying to get into the cradle, and I think she's claimed the bumbo seat for her own.
I cleaned and organized in the early afternoon, then we did outdoor work. Jon got rid of the two dead trees out front, and I tried to clean up a bit after the storm. My little garden survived...a tomato plant, mint, and rosemary.
Yes, we have tomatoes! Savy is obsessed with them and has already picked two too early...she just can't help herself.
There are apples on Jon's apple tree...Savy was obsessed with those until she discovered the tomatoes.
And here's another pic of our baby birds (the swifts on the front porch). They can't even fit in the nest anymore, but they still haven't left.

Just Checking In
Sorry for not posting much this week...it has been BUSY! Work has been more time-consuming than usual, and Savy has had swim class every afternoon. I had a checkup with my doc on Wednesday. She said everything looks great, I'm measuring just a bit larger than normal for this gestational age, and I didn't gain any weight since the last visit...yay! We had a 3 1/2 hour drive to a funeral this morning (where we got to visit with Granny Ruth and lots of other family), then a 3 1/2 hour drive back this afternoon. Savy missed her swim class today because of the funeral, but she'll get to make up for it with an extra class next week, so it's no big deal.
I'm completely exhausted, and my week still isn't over. I hope next week will be easier.

Pool School: Day 1
Savy's first day of swimming lessons went well. There are 4 children in her group. She got a little excited at the beginning and tried to jump right in, but her teacher told her not to do it again...and she actually listened. She also got a little bored at the beginning with the blowing bubbles exercises, but she really enjoyed the end when they got to practice jumping into the water.
She was not a bit afraid of jumping in the water. She kept cutting in line to be able to jump off the side.

The Sprinkler Park Is Open
We finally made it to the sprinkler park Friday. I didn't get to post any pics over the weekend because my computer died Friday afternoon. I'm using the laptop now until we decide whether to get a new desktop for me or one of the mini-notebooks.
So, here are the pics from Friday. Savy was so excited that this park is finally open for the summer.
I don't know who this little girl was, but she and Savy became fast friends and played for quite a while.
Mimi came to visit Saturday, and Savy went home with her to spend the night Saturday night. Jon and I enjoyed our alone time. We went to the gym together Saturday afternoon, and I worked out on the eliptical machine for 45 minutes...I'm so proud of myself! Of course, I took it easier than I used to, but it was still a good workout. Saturday night we saw Terminator: Salvation. Sunday we slept LATE and then met Mimi and Papi to pick Savy up.
Savy has her first swimming lesson this afternoon. She's very excited!

I'm So Disappointed
I ordered a new maternity dress from Old Navy on Sunday. All my other dresses are almost too small to accommodate my belly, my pants/shorts keep falling down constantly, and I've only got 2 shirts that still completely cover my belly. I thought I'd need just a couple of new things that were really big for these last 2 months.
We're planning on going to visit Jon's family for the 4th of July. As you saw before, his sister has an AWESOME lake house, and there are sure to be lots of people around. I'll be huge by July 4th and it'll be HOT, so I wanted a comfy, cool new dress to wear for the occasion. I saw this one on the website and had to have it.
They don't carry it in stores, so I ordered it online. I imagined myself sitting out in the sun...cool and comfortable in this dress and my wide-brimmed sun hat. I thought it looked so summery with the tropical flower print. I couldn't wait for it to arrive.
It arrived today. I couldn't wait to try it on. I didn't order my usual medium because, as I said before, mediums are just about too small for my belly now. Firstly, the large I ordered is great below the smocked area...fits great with some room for the belly to grow (as it surely will). but the smocked bust is HUGE...way too big for me, and I'm not exactly flat as a board these days if you know what I mean. The worst part? It makes me look like a cow. No, seriously, like a real cow....that big black and white print I liked looks like a black and white cow costume when worn. As disappointed as I was with the fit, I had to laugh out loud when I looked in the full length mirror.
I refuse to give up, though! I'm going to pin the smocked area to see what it would look like if taken in. If it looks decent, I'll alter it myself (not going to pay for tailoring on maternity wear. If not, I'll have to return it and find something else.

My Favorite Playground
I went to Germantown to get my annual TB skin test today. After we took care of that, Savy and I stopped to check out a new playground near the library. This one is definitely my favorite of all the playgrounds we've visited. The main reason is because it's shaded. There are trees all around it, and there are lots of picnic tables and benches under the canopy to sit on....all the other playgrounds are in full sun all day. This one is a bit smaller than the one in Collierville, so I can actually sit down and still see Savy wherever she is...at the others, I have to follow her around or I lose sight of her. This one wasn't as crowded as the others usually are, and it's way off the road.
Savy liked the geese
She went straight for the "mountain" and climbed right on up. This thing is really neat...the underside is designed to look like a cave, and there are fake dinosaur bones on the wall.
I was surprised she picked the toddler swing instead of the big kid swing....she said she likes it because she can lean back in it.
Savy made friends with this little girl, and they played together for a long time.
When her little friend left, she took a kool-aid break.
Then she spotted a squirrel and was convinced she could catch it. She was very disappointed when it escaped up the tree.
She enjoyed herself, and I got to relax a little bit. We were planning to go to the sprinkler park tomorrow, but it's supposed to rain. If so, I guess we'll go Friday. The last day of vacation Bible school is Friday. Monday, she starts her swimming lessons...she can't wait for that!
